Key Factors for Efficient Production of Insert Plastic Products
Based on Jingsheng(Kingsjeng)’s over a decade of injection molding production experience, the efficient production of insert plastic products indeed requires collaboration across multiple links, with the core lying in four key factors: insert treatment, process control, equipment adaptation, and quality closed-loop management.

- Standardization of Insert Pretreatment
Pretreatment of inserts (mostly metal parts) directly affects subsequent injection efficiency and product qualification rate, serving as a fundamental link.
1) Cleaning: Oil stains, rust, or oxide layers on the insert surface must be removed to avoid affecting the bonding force between plastic and inserts and reduce delamination defects.
2) Positioning and pretreatment: Some inserts need pre-grinding, drilling, or preheating. Meanwhile, the positioning datum of inserts in the mold must be unified to prevent mold damage or product scrapping caused by manual placement deviations.
- Precise Control of Injection Molding Process Parameters
This is the core determining production efficiency and product quality, requiring parameter adjustment based on insert characteristics and plastic materials.
1) Temperature control: It covers barrel temperature and mold temperature. Both plastic fluidity and insert heat dissipation must be balanced to avoid uneven plastic shrinkage or insert deformation due to excessive temperature differences.
2) Pressure and injection speed: Injection pressure and speed must be set precisely to ensure plastic fills the mold cavity quickly, while preventing insert displacement caused by excessive pressure extrusion.

- Adaptation and Application of Automated Equipment
Automation is a key means to improve production efficiency and reduce human errors.
1) Automatic insert feeding: Using manipulators or dedicated feeding mechanisms to replace manual insert placement can shorten the production cycle of a single product by more than 30% and reduce manual positioning errors.
2) Mold-equipment linkage: The mold must be designed with insert error-proof structures (such as sensors to detect whether inserts are in place) and linked with the injection molding machine. It will automatically stop when inserts are missing to avoid empty injection waste.
- Real-Time Quality Inspection and Feedback
Efficient production must not come at the expense of quality, so a rapid inspection and adjustment mechanism needs to be established.
1) Online inspection: Install visual inspection or dimensional inspection equipment on the production line to screen in real time for issues such as insert position deviation, plastic material shortage, and cracks at the bonding interface, preventing defective products from entering subsequent links.
2) Data feedback: Real-time feedback of inspection data to the process end, timely adjustment of injection parameters or insert pretreatment methods, and formation of a "production-inspection-optimization" closed loop to reduce continuous defects.
